terms & conditions

Check-in is available from 3pm and check-out is at 11am. In some cases, there may be a small delay getting your room ready for 3pm, for which we sincerely apologise. We will always ensure you are welcomed warmly and provided a comfortable place to relax until your room is ready. If you require a later check-out, please let us know as soon as you possibly can. We will try to be as accommodating as possible with this request, as we want our guests to be able to stay and relax for as long as possible at The Old Dog.

Our Kitchen is open in the pub to order as per the below timings

Wednesday to Sunday

Lunch: 12pm – 4pm

Dinner: 5pm – 8pm

Sundays 11am - 6pm

Simply put there is no dress code. We strive to make The Old Dog a welcoming inclusive place so please come in whatever you feel comfortable in, but please refrain from wearing anything that could be offensive.

We are an ancient inn – so please take care on all surfaces, some of which are stone and can be uneven or slippery.

All our room rates are displayed on our booking platform on a self catering basis (inclusive of VAT). This rate is pre-paid in advance of your stay.

We accept payment by card only on our booking platform. We accept all major European cards, including American Express. We do not accept payment by cheque or traveller’s cheque.

We offer a Friday to Monday, Monday to Friday, Friday to Friday or Monday to Monday stay policy.  This is our preference based on our customer feedback so far, although please check with us directly if you would like us to consider a specific request.

Please contact us directly about cancellations with as much notice as possible.  All Guest Room cancellations made in the 7 days prior to your arrival date, and which we are unable to resell, will be fully chargeable.

We require a credit card to reserve your room and this would be charged in the event of cancellation.

If you do not show up for your booking, you will be charged in full and receive no refund.

For all bookings of tables for parties above 8 people we now require a £10 per person deposit as part of your booking process.

Cancellation more than XX hours prior to your booking shall allow enough time for us either rebook your table and/or sufficiently plan our costs and therefore will see your deposit returned within 48 hours or your booking may be moved to a future date.

Cancellation inside of XX hours will unfortunately see your deposit not returned.

We have a car park at the rear of the Pub, which all guests are able to use. All vehicles and their contents are left solely at the owner’s risk and the Pub is not liable for any damage. Please ensure that you park in a way that is respectful to other guests.

The mobile phone signal is weak on some networks when inside The Old Dog due to our thick walls and external to the pub also . Calls can be made at the property via WIFI calling, if your device supports it, and WhatsApp.

If you have young children that require a cot, we can supply one (without bedding) to you free of charge. We have limited availability of cots, so please get in touch prior to your arrival to ensure we can meet your needs.

Flat 1 (NAME) is suitable for 2 Adults and up to a maximum of two cots for young children staying in a cot

Flat 2 (NAME) is suitable for up to 4 Adults or two Adults and two children utilising one of the bedrooms plus a maximum of two cots also.

Children (below the age of 16) should not be left unaccompanied on the premises.

Dogs are allowed in the bar and dining areas of the Pub, and all outside areas. However, we would like to politely ask that all dogs are kept under control by their owners. They must remain at their owner’s table at all times and should be put on a lead if necessary. This will be a huge help to the team and guests at The Old Dog, as it will prevent our furry friends from being trip hazards and protect those who suffer from allergies.

Our guest rooms are not currently bookable for overnight stays with dogs.  However, should you wish to stay with us and require the use of a guide dog, we ask that you contact us directly to discuss.

While there are alarms and CCTV on the premises, all guests are responsible for their own belongings. We recommend that you keep your room locked when vacating your room.

There will be no staff members on site between approximately 23:00pm to 08:30am. If you require assistance during the night, you will be given a selection of emergency numbers to call in your welcome pack in your accommodation.

We ask that all guests are mindful of one another when dining and staying as a guest at The Old Dog. Although we are in a remote location, we must also be mindful of the houses around us to ensure we do not disturb our neighbours. If any of our guests are rude or dismissive to staff or other guests, we have the right to ask them to leave, although we sincerely hope this never happens.

All of our guest rooms are located above the kitchen, bar and/or dining areas and therefore some general noise may be heard during opening times.  However, we have installed the maximum soundproofing in each of the rooms, where the building could accommodate it, to mitigate any intrusive noise disturbance for the comfort of our guests.  We are not a late night pub with most nights seeing a low noise level from 21:00pm.

If you have a feather allergy please let us know on booking your room (or at least a day before your stay), so that we can provide hypoallergenic bedding where possible.

Should you suffer from any food allergies or intolerances and you are dining with us please make your waiter aware of this as soon as possible.

Our kitchen can accommodate nearly all requirements and we will always do our best to ensure you have something delicious to eat.

Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside The Old Dog anywhere. If the smell of smoke is detected in your room upon departure, we may charge an extra fee for the additional cleaning required.

Your guest room keys should be returned to a member of staff at the end of your stay or left in the lock box as detailed on check in and in your welcome pack inside the flat.  If you have mistakenly taken one of the room keys, following your departure from The Old Dog it must be returned to us within a week to avoid facing a charge.

When using the external door to the rear of the pub at night when the pub has closed to customers, please ensure the door is locked on exit and return before you return to your Flat accommodation upstairs.

Access to both our Flats are from the rear of the pub via a staircase.  The bottom of the staircase has a staff access door to the pub which is in daily use during our Opening Hours, please be aware of this as you enter and leave the Flats.

When looking to enter the main pub area, this is only allowed through the front or side door to the pub as detailed on your welcome pack.  It is expressly forbidden to access the pub via the staff door due for safety reasons.

We will follow all government guidelines regarding COVID-19 and work with best practice measures in the Pub and Guest Rooms. We ask our guests to respect any restrictions we have implemented and follow the government guidelines.
